45th-reunion-2A Successful 45th Reunion!

Perfect weather for the perfect weekend

Thanks to the inspired leadership of Joan Cassman and Krista Fogleman and their wonderful reunion committee, the 45th Reunion was a fabulous success! As the temperature rose, so did the spirits of those 74ers who attended. Unfazed by the hot weather, our purple class spent a busy, activity-filled weekend creating memorable moments, strengthening old bonds, and forging new friendships, while also leaving indelible impressions on all the other classes. Here are just some of the highlights:

Scenic views of Lake Waban from Lake House awed everyone, and you couldn't miss the purple crew shell replete with raucous 74ers during the creation of the "W" on the lake.

Our wonderful class meeting at the Collins Cinema included a spectacular report from the outgoing class officers outlining recordbreaking Reunion attendance and contributions to the College, as well as an amazing number of mini-Reunions and alumnae connections from 2014-2019.

A moving, brilliantly-conceived “We Remember Them” memorial to our deceased classmates was presented by Rev. Helen "Penny" Greer, Jeannine Otis, and Cantor Louise (Egbert) Treitman.

President Paula Johnson moderated a highly personal and revealing conversation with Madeleine Korbel Albright '59 and Hillary Rodham Clinton '69 on Saturday afternoon (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZbkjGRpFT0).

Our class photo (see above) preceded a delicious Saturday night dinner under a tent on the Tower Court lawn, and a 70’s trivia contest cleverly conceived and executed by Deborah Bedell.

Sunday’s alumnae parade featured our class cheers, but we also surprised and delighted other classes by cheering them, e.g. "1-9-6-9 Wellesley, rah; 1-9-6-9 Wellesley; green class, still kicking ass; 1-9-6-9 Wellesley." The parade culminated with stepsinging at Alumnae Hall, featuring Louise Tibbetts Smith '39 who led us all in her composition, "Ballad of a Bold, Bad Man."

Enthusiastic applause for Chris Carnavos, Erna Arnesen, Dennie Doughton Tinguely, Debbie Copeland Levens, and Barbara Schwartz Garlock for their talented, dedicated leadership during the past five years. Your new class officers—Chris Santos, Donna Davenport Smythe, Rhonda Wrenn, Stephanie Bruno, Doreen Franke, Barbara Garlock (who has generously signed on for another five-year stint) and Genie Ware—are excited to lead us to our 50th Reunion in 2024.

Our class connections just get richer and richer. The next five years will include many opportunities to share experiences with classmates, and of course, we want to see everyone at our 50th. Check out the calendar of mini-reunions that are already scheduled. (And of course, there will be more!)
